Calligraphy is an essential component of the lettering arts, as well as the artform that introduced me to graphic design as a whole.
A deep understanding of calligraphy and its history produces an understanding of why our alphabet looks the way it does, in all it’s incredible variations. This knowledge has helped me incredibly in further developing my skills in lettering and type design.

I primarily have experience with the broad nib and brush, liking the former for it’s formality and elegance, and the latter for it’s expressiveness.
Shown here are a few examples of my calligraphic work, which I do both for personal fulfilment and on a commision basis.
